Teaching

Emerson House creates a safe and nurturing environment where children support each other and find their love of learning.

Our dedicated teachers are specially qualified to teach children who need support.

Our programs are structured as follows:

  • 3-Hour Sessions: Math, Literacy, and Touch-typing
    • Morning and afternoon sessions
  • After School Tutorials and Clubs
    • One-on-one tutorials in Math and Literacy
    • Touch-typing clubs

Our 3-Hour Sessions program provides comprehensive support to unlock the child’s abilities

Emerson House offers a range of teaching structures depending on the needs of the child. Our core structure we call our 3-Hour Sessions - over the course of a morning or afternoon - children have focused tuition in literacy, touch-typing, and math following individualized programs for each child. The objective is to give children the skills and confidence to learn on a level footing with other children of the same age.

Our morning schedule finishes at 11.45am when children are free to return to their own schools or homes for lunch and the afternoon schedule finishes at 3:45pm

Most children attend Emerson House for two morning or afternoon sessions per week, depending on the child’s individual needs and the parents’ and current school’s wishes.

After School Tutorials and Clubs

Depending on the child's assessed needs we also provide
one-to-one tutorials in math and literacy. These are held after normal school hours and during vacations.

Touch-typing clubs are open to any school aged student.

Paired learning has social and learning benefits

We believe that children’s self-confidence improves by interacting and encouraging each other — during break times, before and after lessons start, we create a sense of community and shared purpose. In addition, where appropriate, we carefully pair children for literacy and math sessions in order to optimize their learning experience.

In the online 3-Hour Sessions students join together for community coloring at the start of each session, share breaks, and support each other during paired lessons and typing.
